Configuring SMTP Server for SBC/AT&T DSL Users

Problem: SBC DSL users are unable to send mail from a non-sbc email account (i.e. yourname@yourdomain.com) with a POP3 client such as Outlook or Eudora.

Reason: SBC blocks all network traffic from residential customer's IP addresses going outbound on port 25 unless it is going through one of their SMTP servers.

Solution: Configure your email client to use SBC's SMTP server as the outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Depending on your SBC account, you should be able to use one of the following SMTP servers (refer to your SBC documentation):
These are the two most common
smtp.sbcglobal.net
smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

The following are other possible outgoing servers depending on your region
smtp.ameritech.yahoo.com
smtp.flash.yahoo.com
smtp.nvbell.yahoo.com
smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com
smtpauth.prodigy.net
smtp.snet.yahoo.com
smtp.swbell.yahoo.com
smtp.wans.yahoo.com
